Have you been underestimated because of your gender or race?

What is the most insulting way someone has underestimated your talents? Partiality and bias are more common in our nation and almost everywhere in this world. Talent comes second compared to the gender or race we belong to. I have a cousin in London who told me a story when some natives of their country were spewing hate messages because of her skin color. In our country, I had to overcome the gender bias to prove that I'm a techie.

There's a common belief that IT world is men's world. It is true to some point. Proving my self-worth in my uni involved loads of hard work to make myself the shine in my batch. I just hate that I had to prove myself in the first place. Of course, I wasn't a techie when I entered my uni. But I learn fast and that still surprises my peer boys. In my 1st year, no one trusted me with coding stuff, but now I lead a team of boys for any projects.

When have you experienced such partiality or bias which resulted in underestimation?

Yes. By both means .. I have been mocked by girls when I tried to cook. I am not telling it as a fun. But many girls in our community have this mindset. This also can be taken as an under estimation of girls by girls themselves.
I haven't faced under estimation by means of ethnicity. But I have faced ignorance..

Funny! As agirl, most of us don't even know how to cook! Let's just say that need to learn cooking didn't show up or we're pretty lazy! Anyway, it's great you cook!

    Hi,
I have faced the same kind of a project. These days I am completing my final year project the group is consist of 4 girls. This is some kind of standard project using most of the difficult technologies and IOT part.
When boys and some of the academic staff get to know that we, only the girls are doing these projects they are getting wonder. But I feel it is not hard to continue it only with girls.

    I feel you sis!
This is almost a regular thing for girls actually! People have a misconception that girls aren't so smart. But proving them wrong is quite funny actually!

Cooking is an art anyone can do it, actually, the world's famous chefs are men. Agree there are lots of girls underestimate themselves. They should realize that they can do anything they wish.
