Tips to maintain when giving a speech
Are you a person who is afraid to speak in public don't worry, these tips will help you to talk more confidently.
- Maintain a posture with a straight back avoiding any leaning forward crouching or slouching.
- When speaking make eye contact with everyone in the room. Avoid looking down at your notes.
- Utilize open hand gestures ensuring that your palms are open and visible to everyone.
- When addressing others in a group discussion make an effort to learn and remember their names beforehand if they are unfamiliar to you.
- Foster an aggressive approach. In the event of a disagreement that cannot be resolved maintain a demeanour. Suggest agreeing to disagree.
- Graciously accept errors. If something you said is proven incorrect acknowledge it with gratitude, towards the person who corrected you.
- If you experience stuttering or stammering during the discussion offer a self-deprecating smile while acknowledging any nervousness. Then proceed with your point.
- When things aren't going as planned take a breath to regain composure and energetically re-join the discussion.
I hope this will help me to communicate with others more confidently, follow the tips, and become a better speaker.
