Thread: Why do we consider porn stars to be beneath normal actresses?

Recently I came across the biopic trailer of Sunny Leone through a friend and I was kind of drawn towards her guts seeing that trailer.
So I showed it to be roomies and they were like "she doesn't deserve this stardom and she is one of the reasons youngsters are spoilt".
I tried reasoning with them, but they pointed out culture, traditions and values and how porn stars deserve no respect!

Is that fair? Do you think that pornography and porn stars are the reason why society is deteriorating and are they the reason why rape rate is increasing?
Don't porn stars deserve the same treatment as other artists?

It's their job and they should be dedicated and hardworking to be on the top of their field. They are doing their job well . So they deserve the appreciations .in my POV Pornography is not the reason for rapes . If it would make boys rape, majority of the boys would be rapist by now. Infact rapes are reduced by these porns. Many porn websites have banned porns which shows rapes .. this unconsciously teaches that opposite gender should be ok with the sex. Our clised social construction is the key for rapes.
Sunny Leone deserves this stardom and kudos to the friend who shared the trailer with you. Thank him for giving you some motivation .😊😊

That's what I told them, but actually, the environment became very hostile you know. So I had to drop the subject, otherwise, they might have suffocated me in my sleep, thanks to the friend who showed it to me!
Yes, Porn stars deserve the stardom as everyone, but my roomy's POV was that those stars' victory and fame encourage girls in need of money to get into the porn industry. Girls who need that little push towards that path, rake it as an encouragement. There is a truth in that, isn't it?

Well said.. Those who point their hands and shrink their noses are the ones who should be ashamed of it... If they know who those stars are, then that means they watched it. That doesn't make them saints and the stars as prostitutes.

She is correct. But the biopic may speak about the society which pulls a girl into the situation. So it depends on the film maker whether film talks about successful pornstar or about society which pulls a girl in to porn.
Your friend says that it may push girls towards porn. But there is a possibility that the people to be pushed to think of pornstars personal life and why do a girl/boy come forward to act in porn knowing that society is going to yell at them negatively?

Normally we make movies on Gandhi, Dhoni, and Sachin and if people realize that a movie is going to be released on her, then that means that a porn star is a celebrity praised and accepted by the common public, however the filmmaker relays the movie. Wouldn't that be a motivation to those helpless girls in need of money? Won't that be the little push towards that side?
