Only 10 trillion out of 100 trillion cells in our body are actually human. The rest are bacteria, viruses, and other tiny organisms. Which means we are 10% human. The rest is those pathogens. Most of the organisms that live on or in our bodies are actually helpful.
Gut bacteria, for example, aids digestion. Some microscopic organisms may help us extract nutrients from the food we eat. And some may even help us fight the infection caused by microorganisms that really are about to kill us.
So guys, beware!! before buying yourself a man-sized autoclave or bathing in antibacterial ointment or swallowing a glass of bleach.
Killing all those little organisms would not only make us a lot smaller, it would make us a lot less healthy.
