By using epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) technology, Scientists find a way to change breast cancer cells into fat cells. Researchers implanted mice with an aggressive form of breast cancer and treated them with both a cancer treatment called trametinib and a diabetic treatment by using a drug called rosiglitazone. When the cancer cells treated with these drugs the used the epithelial-mesenchymal transition pathway and instead of spreading they changed into fat cells which are called adipogenesis.
The results indicate that we can cure breast cancer patients by combined therapy with trametinib and rosiglitazone specifically targets cancer cells by induces their adipogenesis with increased plasticity. Read this article to find more about this research.
