Thread: Religion is a social control used to maintain the status quo in a given society?

According to Karl Marx the religion was the “opiate of the masses”, which means religion is like a drug, makes people happy with their existing conditions.
I think it plays a significant role in maintaining the status quo by promising rewards in the after-life rather than in this life. What is your perspective regarding this?

In my point of view, religion makes us discipline.Every religion guide us to follow self discipline,kindness and responsibility in different ways.
