While millions of garbage are being dumped into land every year around the world, Sweden has found a way to transform their trash into something really useful.
They convert garbage into sustainable energy! This has reached the stage where they have run out of their own garbage and they're now importing garbage from other countries too.
While half of the trash are recycled the other half is being used for the country's WTE(Waste To Energy) program, which produces electricity from the burning e-wastes and agricultural wastes and only 1% of the garbage ends up in land fill!
Should a country like Sri Lanka follow this type of techniques to avoid calamities related to garbage in future?
