Ransomware and the cryptocurrency mining based attacks has become the top threats recently.Meanwhile researchers have discovered a new malware from the Rakini ransomware family which can infect the systems with either a crypto currency miner or ransomware, depending on their configurations.
This malware

  1. Installs ransomware if the system has a Bitcoin folder
  2. Installs crypto currency miner if the machine has 2 logical processors without a bitcoin folder
  3. Acivates worm component if there is only one logical processor and no bitcoin folder
