Facebook revealed that a software error had exposed photos of up to 6.8 million users, including unpublished photos. When someone gives permission to an app to access their photos on Facebook, we usually grant access to the app only to photos that people share on their history. "In this case, the error potentially allowed developers to access other photos," the company said in a blog post.He said that up to 1,500 applications were affected by bankruptcy. In addition to allowing developers to access photos in a user's timeline, they gave them access to photos published in Stories and Marketplace, among other features. It also allowed them to see photos that people had uploaded but had not posted on Facebook, for example if they started writing a publication but did not complete it.Facebook said it would work with interested developers to help them "remove photos from affected users".
